For Earth Day, our pre-school accepted an invitation by the Islamic Society of the Appalachian Region (ISAR) to visit their center in Princeton. We went over an important lesson – that people are different all over our earth, and to be good stewards of the earth, we should take opportunities to learn more about our communities and understand our diversity. Learning more about the people of the earth ensures we can take better care of it and each other!
We learned so much about the culture, tradition, and history of Islam. In addition to our lesson and tour of the center and mosque, we were also invited to see our names written in Arabic, craft, and have a delicious lunch. Each child was also given a charity box as a gift!
Thank you so much to the Islamic Society of the Appalachian Region for this event. Special thanks to Liliya Yakimova, Rafah Safi, Saima Rana, Shaziya Razzak, Aaisha Haque, and Nighat Rana for hosting us with so much warmth. We also appreciate our parent volunteers who accompanied us. We had a great time, and our students learned a lot!
