Wednesday, October 7th, was the perfect day for a Field Trip. On that warm and sunny afternoon our pre-schoolers went to Pisgah Pumpkin Patch in Tazewell, VA.
Our adventure started with a craft, followed by play time at the kids knoll and mini maze. Though, the most popular was a sandpit filled with corn seeds. Even after we were called to take a hay-ride, nobody really wanted to leave a grain-filled, yellow play area.

During the hay ride around the pumpkin field we learned that pumpkins do not really have to be orange. They can be yellow, white or even green. Pumpkins cannot be long like cylinders. Those are called squashes. Pumpkins are round.

After the hay-ride, we all went to the pumpkin field and every student could pick from the field any pumpkin she or he liked. Some of us liked big, some decided on small, but we all were pretty happy to be able to take home our own pumpkin!

The last part of our trip was corn maze. We learned that on the very place where the Pumpkin Patch was located now, two hundreds years before used to be a real Indian Village, and many exhibit items in the Crab Orchard Museum across the road, were found in that place.
After the maze, some of our students enjoyed face-painting, an Indian hole game, and the light breeze that finally blew to refresh us. We were tired, happy, and excited for new adventures!
